Nominations Sought for the "Founding Board" of the Wisconsin Nonprofits Association (WNA)
Deadline is OCTOBER 15, 2006
Colleagues:
I am pleased to be serving as a Co-Chair of a "steering committee" that is working to establish a new statewide association of Wisconsin's nonprofit organizations. Wisconsin is now one of fewer than fifteen states without such an association. My knowledge of, and direct experience working with, such organizations in other states strongly suggests that such an association in Wisconsin would greatly strengthen our nonprofit sector. We hope that this new Wisconsin Nonprofits Association (WNA) will be launched early in 2007.
The purpose of WNA is to represent the interests of all of Wisconsin's nonprofit sector organizations and in turn help individual nonprofits to reach their fullest capacity and better serve their constituencies. The state association will enhance organizational capacity building, provide increased access to knowledge and resources, give a state and national voice to nonprofits and collaborate to leverage resources for all nonprofits everywhere in Wisconsin.
WNA is being formed as a nonprofit sector-wide association of nonprofits providing the following core services:
- Leadership and convening of the sector
- Advocacy and public policy
- Management and technical assistance
- Information and referral
- Products and services
- Communications
We are now seeking nominations of people who would be willing to serve as members of the "Founding" Board of Directors for WNA. This founding board will provide critically important governance and leadership for WNA in its early phases of formation and operations.
Follow the links above to a packet of information including a "nomination form." Please use this form to nominate yourself or some other person who you feel would be a strong candidate to serve in this important capacity. Please note the nominations deadline of October 15, 2006.
