Helen Bader Institute Convenes Forum Series on Nonprofit Self-Regulation
Nonprofit leaders and stakeholders are invited to participate in a two-part series on April 4 & 5 to review and discuss newly proposed Principles for Effective Practice developed by the Panel on the Nonprofit Sector. Featured topics: Strong Financial Oversight, Responsible Fundraising, Facilitating Legal Compliance and Effective Governance. Better Business Bureau Giving Seals to Charities
Consumers who are used to checking up on plumbers, contractors and accountants through the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau can now start checking up on local charities, too.

Combined Federal Campaign Accepts Applications, Offers Training
Beginning March 12, 2007, the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) of Greater Wisconsin is accepting applications for charitable organizations to participate in the 2007 campaign. The deadline for applications is April 16, 2007. Charitable organizations providing health and welfare services to 40 Wisconsin counties (including Milwaukee , Ozaukee , Washington , Waukesha , Kenosha and Racine ) are encouraged to apply. For those preparing an application, a training session will be held April 3 in Milwaukee.

Georgia Tech Offers New Nonprofit Leadership Executive Training Program
This weeklong program for senior and emerging leaders in the nonprofit sector will take place in Atlanta from June 25-29, 2007. The program is offered in partnership with Emory University , Georgia State University and the Georgia Center for Nonprofits.

Leslie Lenkowsky to Speak on "Mega-Philanthropy" March 28
“The Rise of the Mega-Givers: Is the ‘Guffett' Foundation Good for Philanthropy?” is the topic of a research colloquium on March 28 sponsored by the Helen Bader Institute for Nonprofit Management at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee . Dr. Lenkowsky is a professor of public affairs and philanthropic studies at Indiana University , and a frequent contributor to the Chronicle of Philanthropy. The presentation will take place from 3:30-5:00 p.m. in the UWM Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts. RSVP to Barbara Duffy (bduffy@uwm.edu).

Strong Communities Institute Offered in Milwaukee March 22-23
Strong Communities is a tailored institute focused on asset based community development techniques for directors and managers of nonprofit organizations, offered through The Leadership Practice, a partnership between Public Allies and the ABCD Institute at Northwestern University.

ENTECH Offers Nonprofit Technology Symposium March 26
“Technology Management” is the theme of the second annual Nonprofit Technology Symposium sponsored by ENTECH, Empowering Nonprofits in Technology. The event is an opportunity for anyone who interacts with technology as part of their daily work, including managers with executive responsibility, IT personnel with an interest in management, as well as members of growth teams who are working on specific development initiatives.

March 15: 8th Annual MANDI Awards
Sponsored by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, the Milwaukee Awards for Neighborhood Development Innovation are held annually to honor the inspiring innovative work of community organizations working to make Milwaukee neighborhoods better places to live, work and play.
