Panel on the Nonprofit Sector Releases Report on Good Governance and Ethical Practice
The Panel on the Nonprofit Sector, a national panel to improve accountability and ethical practice in charitable organizations, has released its Principles for Good Governance and Ethical Practice: A Guide for Charities and Foundations. The Guide represents the first time that charities and foundations reflecting a broad cross-section of the American nonprofit community have come together to develop principles of ethical conduct, accountability and transparency that they aspire to and encourage all organizations to follow.

Blurring the Line Between Charities and Businesses
In this Washington Post column, Eugene Steuerle, Senior Fellow at the Urban Institute, examines the increase in collaborations and conflicts between the business and charitable sectors. Steuerle is the co-editor of Nonprofits and Business (forthcoming) and Nonprofits and Government.

New Wisconsin Nonprofits Association Finds Common Ground for Common Good
The Wisconsin Nonprofits Association has been launched, and is now offering charter memberships for nonprofits and individuals. This statewide membership association was established to strengthen nonprofits, create collaborative opportunities, and raise awareness about the impact of Wisconsin’s nonprofit sector.

Small Business Times Launches SBT Nonprofit Directory
Nonprofits may sign their organizations up to appear in this free online directory of 501(c)(3)organizations throughout the region. You'll be asked to tell Milwaukee-area businesses how they can help your organization.

Applications Due December 14 for Latino Nonprofit Leadership Program
UWM’s Roberto Hernandez Center, in partnership with the Cardinal Stritch University Leadership Center, is  currently recruiting for the fourth class of the Latino Nonprofit Leadership Program, a reflective, practical leadership development course designed especially for bilingual (English/Spanish) Latinos and non-Latinos involved with Latino-serving nonprofit organizations in southeastern Wisconsin, either as employees or as volunteers.

Nonprofit Research Colloquium Series
The Helen Bader Institute for Nonprofit Management at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is hosting two research colloquia in December.

December 4, 12-1:30 p.m.: Informing Nonprofit Management via the Analysis of Key Financial Ratios—Andy Holman, Doug Ihrke and Nathan Grasse

December 7, 2-3:30 p.m.: A Research Conversation with Dennis Young and Kevin Kearns
Young, a pioneering scholar in the field of nonprofit management, is the editor of the recently published book, “Financing Nonprofits: Putting Theory into Practice.” Kearns has written the chapter “Income Portfolios” that appears in the book. December 6: Spirit of the Nonprofit Sector: 14th Annual Holiday Celebration of Diversity
