Milwaukee individuals and corporations give less to charitable activities than in other cities. The committee encourages publicizing the importance of philanthropy via Greater Milwaukee Gives and other such organizations.

Much of the fundraising, including cultural/arts, involves the CEOs of large corporations. These individuals are overburdened with fundraising responsibilities. The fundraising network needs to be expanded to include middle level management and mid-size to small corporations.

Arts and Cultural organizations need to become very efficient fiscally and should be held accountable for how they spend their money. Board members need to be well informed in accounting and business practices and use those skills to actively monitor and direct their organizations to become more effective, focused and efficient. Along that same line, businesses and foundations need to establish criteria for arts programs requesting funding. Those requesting funding should be accountable for how efficiently their programs are running. Many non profit organizations are duplicating efforts and would benefit from consolidating efforts and resources.
