This report summarizes the results of second of the National Housing Conference's Senior Exective Roundtable Series. These roundtables were held in Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Providence, and San Diego and included leaders in housing, business, government, and the community. They convened in order to discuss how each of their respective communities were dealing with issues of affordable housing. These groups arrived at four key factors affecting the housing problem: excessive and unnecessary regulations make it difficult to provide affordable housing in some communities; regional approaches to the problem must be considered; involvement by the private sector is vital; and increased funding for federal housing programs.
