What do we really know about who’s going to college? Who persists on the path toward a degree or credential? What happens to students after they enroll? Research based on three federally sponsored national longitudinal surveys of students provides answers to these key questions in this report. Although not specifically examining Wisconsin, this report does offer findings of great interest to those interested in learning about access issues in higher education. Making accommodations for nontraditional students, ensuring a rigorous high school curriculum, and easing the financial burden of the college attendees were all deemed important to expanding higher education opportunity for all students.
