Part of COWS’ work is advocating for "high road" economic development strategies that promote high-quality jobs under competitive conditions, environmental sustainability, corporate accountability, and community revitalization. This slide show is a review of deteriorating economic and social indicators in Wisconsin and Milwaukee over the past decade. The presentation includes a set of prescriptions to deal with the growing income and education disparities between Wisconsin and other more successful areas such as the Twin Cities. Regionalism, investment in companies, good government, and investment in education are all reoccurring themes. This is a good macro overview of current issues and ideas in economic development in Wisconsin. |
