Each year in the United States, more than 40,000 adults die from diseases that could have been prevented by vaccines. The report joins the Wisconsin Immunization Program to study this disparity in select cities across the U.S., including Milwaukee, and concludes that a significant health disparity exists in that African Americans and Hispanics have significantly lower influenza and pnuemococcal immunization rates compared to the rest of the population (in Milwaukee, the disparity is 23% and 15% respectively). |
