The seven-county southeastern Wisconsin region grew its tax base at a rate faster than the state as a whole for the second year in a row. This year’s 8.9% growth is the highest since 1992, possibly signaling a turn around for the region’s fiscal health.

Southeastern Wisconsin is home to 37% of the state’s total property tax base, indicating that in addition to outpacing the state, the region’s growth most likely drove much of the state’s growth as well. In addition, the growth was experienced throughout the region; only one community in southeastern Wisconsin lost tax base this year and over one-third of the region’s municipalities had growth rates of over 10%.
