The Light Rail in Milwaukee: An Analysis of the Potential Impact on Economic Development study assesses the potential economic consequences associated with implementing a Light Rail Transit (LRT) system in the Milwaukee Region. Many details are reported, but several of the major findings include predicting to the extent which Milwaukee may economically benefit from the implementation of a LRT system. For example, the study suggests that as the LRT system is constructed the Milwaukee region will see an increase of $365 million (in 1990 dollars) in total output. In addition, the study predicts total wages will increase by $179 million. The study concludes that the implementation of a LRT system may significantly contribute to economic development of the City of Milwaukee as well as the Milwaukee region. |
