The Follow-Up Review of Department of Public Works Paratransit Services examines the paratransit service operated by the Milwaukee County, Transit Plus. The report discusses how the new method of reimbursing paratransit carriers (reimbursing paratransit carriers on a ‘per hour’ basis for each vehicle in operation) has effected Transit Plus in terms of costs, ridership figures and the efficiency of the program. The study finds that the new method of reimbursing on an hourly basis has resulted in an increased cost of providing trips; the average cost of providing trips has increased from $11.89 to $20.03 per trip. Additionally, the report also evaluates the extent to which the recommendations offered to Transit Now by Public Works in 1998 have been implemented.
