Technology Policies
Technology policies serve to outline acceptable uses, practices and guidelines for technology in the workplace. While an organization may provide an employee manual, which incorporates personnel policies, the use of technology is rarely addressed. While 16% of organizations mentioned technology use in personnel policies, these statements rarely addressed all issues present.
ENTECH has responded to this need by providing boilerplate technology policies were for nonprofits. The issues addressed in the policies were developed in response to the data collected during the assessment. However, the policies needed in nonprofits differ from organization to organization, so further guidance in customizing ENTECH's boilerplate is needed.
Challenge Statement: Nonprofits need to effictive, custom tecnology policies.
Strategy 1: Further develop the Webbased boilerplate. Surveying nonprofits and recognizing additional areas where policies are needed will allow further development of the boilerplate technology policies.
Strategy 2: Allow increased customization on-line. Creating a more expansive policy boilerplate will allow organizations to further develop their own policies. In addition, this boilerplate will allow ENTECH to track which aspects are being customized, which statements are being added and which are being removed. With that information, additional boilerplate policy statements can be created.
